The American Chestnut Foundation works to restore the American chestnut trees -- once the mighty giants of the Eastern US forests, over 4 billion trees were lost to blight and root rot disease in the mid-20th century.  Our organization has been working over 35 years to restore this iconic tree that was such an important part of our forest lands as well as our American culture.  Our restoration efforts include backcross breeding and transgenic research.

Please join us for a fun afternoon at Southern Brewing in Athens to learn of our progress in restoration efforts, how you can help with the progress, and meet others interested in our mission. We’ll have scientists from our organization plus lots of citizen scientists who can share information and answer all your questions.  Plus you can enjoy fun, food, music, a silent auction, and the opportunity to join the Georgia chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation
